CALIFORNIA PROP 65
The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, also referred to as Proposition 65, is a California initiative to address concerns regarding exposure to toxic chemicals. Proposition 65 requires warning labels on products that contains certain levels of the 850+ elements that the California Air Resources Board considers a carcinogen or a reproductive toxicant. These elements include lead, brass, PVC, and a multitude of other everyday products such as leather, vinyl, ceramics, wood furniture, anything with a battery and even food products such as coffee and tuna. The general Proposition 65 notice is: WARNING: You have purchased an item that contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. All Gibson Athletic products are made from the most durable and safe materials, in full compliance with federal safety regulations. The list of chemicals and metals covered by Prop 65 is updated every year. For a complete listing, visit www.oehha.org/prop65.html For general information on the Proposition 65 list of chemicals, you may contact OEHHA's Proposition 65 program at (916) 445-6900, or visit http://www.oehha.ca.gov/prop65.html.
